Settings
Sound and feel, how your computer keyboard maps to notes, and which AI provider the coach uses — all in one place. Changes apply immediately, so you can hear the difference the moment you get back to the piano.

Key span
A narrower range means wider keys and an easier waterfall; a score page widens the keyboard itself when notes fall outside it.
Key map
Tap the key on the piano first, then press the letter you want. Space is the sustain pedal, and Esc / m / r / n / b are shortcuts, so they cannot be bound.
Click the note on the keyboard below, then press the letter you want — it shows up on that key. Space and Esc stay reserved for the pedal and cancelling. m is the metronome, r recording, n / b switch voices — better not to bind those four letters to notes.

MIDI keyboard & controllers
Plug in a USB MIDI keyboard, or run a MIDI cable from your digital piano, and play this site on a real instrument: notes, velocity and the sustain pedal all come through, and follow mode and recording keep working as usual.
Not connected yet. Plug in the keyboard and press Connect MIDI device above — the browser will ask once.
Test it
Press any key — the note name shows up here.
Velocity comes from how hard you actually play (the Velocity slider in settings only affects the mouse and the computer keyboard). Transpose and octave still apply: with a MIDI keyboard connected, follow mode scores the note you actually pressed.
AI provider (bring your own key, optional)
Your own OpenAI-compatible address and key, stored in this browser only. Each question is relayed to that address by this site's server — the key is not stored and not logged. Prefer the deployment key? Leave this empty.
Site-level setup (shared by all visitors): env vars NUXT_AI_BASE_URL and NUXT_AI_MODEL, plus the NUXT_AI_API_KEY secret in Cloudflare Pages.

This is where the site-wide preferences live: sound and feel, how your computer keyboard maps to notes, and which AI provider the coach uses. Everything you reach for while playing — metronome, tempo, sustain, recording — stays next to the piano.
